“WHEN WE TACKLE OBSTACLES, WE FIND HIDDEN RESERVES OF COURAGE AND RESILIENCE WE DID NOT KNOW WE HAD. AND IT IS ONLY WHEN WE ARE FACED WITH FAILURE DO WE REALIZE THAT THESE RESOURCES WERE ALWAYS THERE WITHIN US. WE ONLY NEED TO FIND THEM AND MOVE ON WITH OUR LIVES…”

Andrea Khalid,MA, PhD (Cand)

CO-FOUNDER, WESTBORO WELLNESS

I have been working in the field of Psychology for nearly 20 years with a strong background in Neuropsychological Assessment and Clinical Research.  About 10 years ago, I decided to leave the hospital environment and focus on my passion for clinical work.  I work with adults (18+ and seniors) who are experiencing anxiety, depression, caregiver burden, stress and burnout, PTSD, and chronic illness.  I have a strong clinical focus on First Responder and Military populations.  I practice using the following approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)

While not in the office, you will find me either travelling, cooking or attending my children’s activities.

Cindy Wolfe, M.Ed., MSW, RSW, SEP

CO-FOUNDER, WESTBORO WELLNESS

I provide social work and psychotherapy interventions to adolescents and adults as individuals, couples and families. I specialize in Operational Stress Injuries, PTSD, trauma, grief and loss, anxiety and depression.  I draw from a variety of approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Somatic Experiencing (a body-oriented approach to trauma and stress).  I have been a social worker for over 25 years and I provide supervision and consultation to therapists across Ontario seeking support for their clients working with bottom-up approaches such as SE and EMDR.

When I’m not working, you will find me with friends at a concert or travelling around the world with my family or hanging out at a field, dome or dance competition with my children.

Alanna Grogan, M.Ed., RP

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with over 7 years of experience in the mental health field. I began my career in community mental health crisis work, where I met people in some of their most difficult moments and learned a great deal about resilience and the opportunity for growth in the face of challenges - especially with the right support.

I currently bring this knowledge into my work providing individual psychotherapy to adults who find themselves struggling to meet the demands of their present chapter, whether this relates to a period of transition or stress, long-standing mental health challenges, or neurodivergence.

I aim to support clients in developing more awareness of their inner world, meeting themselves with kind and compassionate care, and taking steps that align with their most cherished values. I draw on a range of approaches in service of each client's individual goals, especially mindfulness and compassion-based, humanistic-existential, emotion-focused, and strengths-based therapies.

I am currently completing additional training in providing customized support to clients with ADHD, aiming to help them navigate specific challenges while honouring unique ways of being.

When I’m not in the office, you might find me at the dance studio, exploring nature on a hike, or cozied up with my cat and a good book.

Early in my experience as a therapist, I observed a common theme: repeated exposure to traumatic and overwhelming experiences, coupled with a lack of support to process and navigate the impact, often left others feeling stuck and isolated. In response, I looked for a deeper understanding and healing of trauma, and completed a three-year training program to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), a naturalistic approach that helps release traumatic stress stored in the body. To further support others in expanding their resilience, I recently completed training in Touch Skills for Trauma (TST) practitioners.

I support individuals aged 19 and older who have experienced trauma, grief, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, emotional regulation, and disconnection from their bodies, others, and the world. I welcome people from diverse lived experiences, identities, ethnicities, races, and cultures.

In addition to somatic therapy, I draw from various therapeutic models, including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as Compassion- and Mindfulness-Focused therapies.

Depth-Oriented Psychotherapist | Working Beneath the Surface

I am a Registered Social Worker with over 20 years of professional experience providing counselling to individuals, couples, and families. I have a long history of working with children and youth and currently offer counselling to individuals aged 13 through adulthood. My work is grounded in depth-oriented, trauma-informed psychotherapy, with a focus on the unconscious patterns, beliefs, and inner dynamics that shape how we think, feel, and relate.

I work integratively, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches to meet each client where they are. I have particular experience supporting concerns related to relationships, parenting, mood disorders, stress, and burnout. My approach emphasizes curiosity and reflection, helping clients explore the parts of themselves and long-standing patterns that may be operating outside of awareness and getting in the way of the life they want to live.

In my work with couples, I support partners in exploring how individual histories, attachment patterns, and unexamined beliefs may be playing out within the relationship. Together, we work to shift reactive patterns, strengthen emotional connection, and move toward more intentional and fulfilling ways of relating. When appropriate and desired, I may also incorporate dreamwork as a reflective, depth-based tool to support insight and integration.

When I’m not in the therapy room, I enjoy bird-watching, spending time with loved ones, navigating the foibles of my cats, decoding dreams, and writing a fantasy novel — typically with a cup of tea close at hand.

Geneviève LaRoche, PsyD, PhD

I am a clinical psychologist. I completed my clinical training at the Anxiety Disorders Outpatient Clinic of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute where I developed expertise in treating various anxiety disorders such as social anxiety, generalized anxiety, perfectionism, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I also provided individual and group therapy to individuals suffering from complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder. I have since completed various professional trainings focusing on attachment theory, trauma and interpersonal difficulties.

My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing mostly from emotion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. My goal as a clinician is to improve my clients’ understanding of themselves and to support them as they work toward enhancing their quality of life. I include both present-moment examples and the influence of past experiences in my work. I have repeatedly witnessed how a meaningful therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for change and promote healing, and I look forward to embarking on this journey with you.

Due to a keen interest in women's mental health, I predominantly work with female clients.

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Carleton University.

I have a combined 15 years of experience working at The Royal Ottawa Hospital, as well as with community agencies as a counsellor and in Violence Against Women services. I am particularly experienced in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, psychosis, caregiver burnout, and grief.

I use  a combination of Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical Behavioural, Motivational, Narrative, and Solution-focused therapeutic approaches in my work.

When I’m not working, I enjoy walking my dog (even in the snow), stand-up paddle boarding (not in the snow) and reading mystery novels.

Kimberly Tran,  MSW, RSW

I am a registered social worker who works with individuals and couples for therapy in both in person and virtual sessions depending on their preference. I work with individuals who are on their family planning journey, and have specialized training to work with those who are experiencing fertility, pregnancy/ infant loss (including Termination for Medical Reasons), the transition to parenthood and postpartum anxiety and/or depression and other mental health concerns.  For my work with couples, I pull from a variety of training modalities (depending on the specific needs of the couple that I am working with) but I largely follow the Gottman method.

When I’m not at work you can likely find me either dreaming about a vacation, planning a vacation or going on a vacation ;). I will find every opportunity to find the ocean, chase the sunshine and experience new places with my favourite people (and you better believe I will find all the delicious treats and snacks along the way!).

I see many people today struggling with sleep issues, feeling anxious, avoiding school or work, lacking motivation, fighting with parents or partners about seemingly simple routines or expectations, spending too much time on technology, are moody and/or irritable or hurting themselves in a number of ways.

As a counsellor with 30+ years experience, I use a caring and non-judgmental approach to supporting children and teens age 10+ and their families/caregivers who are experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, conflict with parents, sleep issues, bullying, divorce and separation, anger, trauma, mood disorders, gender dysphoria, sexual identity, attachment, self-injury, addictions, ADHD, self-esteem and more.

I see many young adults transitioning to college or university and long term careers while navigating issues related to relationships, peers, independent living, motivation, study strategies, anxiety, ADHD and overall mental health.

Finally, I also support adults struggling with anxiety, depression, sleep issues, ADHD, work burnout, issues with relationships, trauma and ADHD.

I employ a variety of Cognitive Behavioural, Trauma, Attachment and Strength Based approaches combined with Mindfulness strategies to help people reduce stress, regulate emotions, repair relationships and improve their overall enjoyment of life.

In my personal time, I am passionate about advocating for an end to rural homelessness and am the founder of a National Organization. I love to garden, paint and travel.

If interested, ask me how we can include expressive art in our sessions.

Theresa Vinokuroff, MSW, RSW

In my work with individuals, I draw on a number of modalities to best meet the client's needs. My primary specialities are relationship issues, parenting, and mood disorders.

With couples, I primarily utilize the Gottman Method for Couple Counselling, focusing on a dyadic approach where couples learn to talk to each other and work together to reconnect, work through conflict, and focus on developing deeper relationships with one another. Family therapy/ Parenting: I provide family therapy and parenting assistance, drawing from my secondary work as a licensed Signs of Safety Trainer and Consultant. I help families develop plans to address whatever issue is occurring in the home that is making it more difficult for the family unit to be safe, successful and bonded. I provide couples therapy (traditional weekly/biweekly format, or intensive marathon approach of 3 consecutive days), as well as running couples workshops. I am also trained in working with couples where there is trauma, PTSD, or infidelity.

When I’m not at work you can likely find me cooking non-stop for the hungry teenagers in my home, or at one of their hockey/football games. I also love to travel and am continually trying to find new places in the world to explore.

Dr. Vann-Vateil Phlek, D.Ps., C. Psych.

I am a psychologist and I provide psychotherapy to adults and couples residing in the provinces of Québec, Ontario, and New-Brunswick. The sessions can be virtual, or in-person based on your needs. I believe therapy is a collaborative process where understanding emotions, patterns, and relationships can create meaningful and lasting changes. I welcome people from all communities and backgrounds and wish to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable.

I have been trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Integrative therapy. I am also familiar with psychodynamic approaches. I combine and adapt them in a flexible way to best support your unique needs, goals, and pace.

I help people who struggle with low mood and depression, stress and anxiety, burnout, self-esteem, emotion regulation, grief, interpersonal and communication difficulties, intimacy and sexual concerns, and conflict resolution.

When I’m not working, I’m likely to be playing outside, cuddling with my dog (a little corgi), travelling, or enjoying my hobby of the moment.

I recognize that seeking professional help is not always easy, and I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to take this step. I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you through your journey!
